Job Description Summary

General Summary of Position Responsibility

This position provides administrative support as it relates to the onboarding, maintaining and exiting of all medical students. The Medical Education Coordinator works closely with Divisional Leadership to provide comprehensive support to academic trainings that are focused on medical students.

Essential Job Functions:

•Collaborates with Medical Education Leadership to coordinate the educational programs within the department of pediatrics.

•Serves as the primary point of contact for Feinberg School of Medicine 4th-year pediatric Sub-Is, visiting rotators, observers, and pediatric continuing medical education participants within the Department of Pediatrics.

•Coordinates the receipt and review of materials from appropriate sources and institutions.

•Facilitates onboarding for visiting students and trainees, including collection and processing of required documentation such as licensure verification, institutional agreements, insurance, immunization records, and rotation schedules.

•Maintains complete training records for current and former learners, including Sub-Is and visiting students.

•Liaises with the Lurie Children's Medical Education team, Feinberg School of Medicine, and the Pediatric Chief Medical Students to ensure alignment in scheduling, orientation, communication, and support for student learners.

•Processes end-of-rotation documentation, including completion of required clinical encounters and return of Lurie-issued items.

•Provides administrative support for continuing medical education (CME) initiatives within the department of pediatrics, as applicable.

•Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Bachelor’s Degree Required; minimum two years of related administrative experience required. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of either area.

•Excellent leadership, organizational and analytical skills, ability to work with teams, strong written/verbal communication.

•Strong planning and coordination skills.

•Ability to work independently and exercise good and professional judgment.

•Knowledge of medical terminology and medical education programs, preferred.

•Experience in an Academic Medical Center, preferred

•Extensive knowledge and experience working with Microsoft applications.

This position provides administrative support as it relates to the onboarding, maintaining and exiting of all trainees/students in the respective educational program affiliated with the assigned division and ensures compliance with all training requirements. The Medical Education Coordinator works closely with Divisional Leadership to provide comprehensive support to academic trainings that are focused on Pediatrics Residents.
