JOB FUNCTION: The Lead Prevention Specialist will implement and guide community and school-based NJ4S programming to ensure that youth and families have access to linkages and referrals for resources and supportive services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee NJ4S staff at Gateway Wellness Center
- Oversee program related activities
- Ensure that youth and families have access to prevention and recovery services to enhance wellness and resilience
- Provide Functional and strength-based training and assessments to NJ4S program staff
- Provide psycho education for families, community, staff and support systems
- Track program database and reports
- Coordinate mental health related trainings, workshops, and community activities
- Outreach to community members and school networks for promotion and partnership opportunities
- Provide staff training and opportunities for professional development
- Collaborate with consultants, school districts, and community service providers to facilitate training, workshops, webinars, assemblies
- Collaborate closely with school administrators, counselors, and support personnel as required in order to effectively deliver required supports to students and their families
- Attentive and responsive to participants needs and wants in a helpful, supportive, timely manner
- Works collaboratively with program staff and community resources to provide viable services
- Assist with the planning and implementation of program activities
- Attend program meetings and trainings
- Play an active role in meetings and trainings designed to enhance program operations
- Provides culturally competent service delivery
- Effectively engages participants to continually access needs
- Provides appropriate intervention strategies, as needed, and adjusts services accordingly
- Assist in programmatic data collection, reporting, continuous quality improvement processes and evaluation of services
- Attend community meeting
- Assist with outreach efforts
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Human Services of other related field
- Minimum of one-year experience working with youth and families
- Computer literate and proficient in using applicable software
- Experience implementing evidence-based treatment and prevention programs is strongly preferred
- Experience working with and empowering youth and marginalized communities by conducting prevention education
OTHER SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to actively listen
