Description

JOB FUNCTION: The Lead Prevention Specialist will implement and guide community and school-based NJ4S programming to ensure that youth and families have access to linkages and referrals for resources and supportive services.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee NJ4S staff at Gateway Wellness Center
  • Oversee program related activities
  • Ensure that youth and families have access to prevention and recovery services to enhance wellness and resilience
  • Provide Functional and strength-based training and assessments to NJ4S program staff
  • Provide psycho education for families, community, staff and support systems
  • Track program database and reports
  • Coordinate mental health related trainings, workshops, and community activities
  • Outreach to community members and school networks for promotion and partnership opportunities
  • Provide staff training and opportunities for professional development
  • Collaborate with consultants, school districts, and community service providers to facilitate training, workshops, webinars, assemblies
  • Collaborate closely with school administrators, counselors, and support personnel as required in order to effectively deliver required supports to students and their families
  • Attentive and responsive to participants needs and wants in a helpful, supportive, timely manner
  • Works collaboratively with program staff and community resources to provide viable services
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of program activities
  • Attend program meetings and trainings
  • Play an active role in meetings and trainings designed to enhance program operations
  • Provides culturally competent service delivery
  • Effectively engages participants to continually access needs
  • Provides appropriate intervention strategies, as needed, and adjusts services accordingly
  • Assist in programmatic data collection, reporting, continuous quality improvement processes and evaluation of services
  • Attend community meeting
  • Assist with outreach efforts

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Human Services of other related field
  • Minimum of one-year experience working with youth and families
  • Computer literate and proficient in using applicable software
  • Experience implementing evidence-based treatment and prevention programs is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with and empowering youth and marginalized communities by conducting prevention education

OTHER SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to actively listen
