As a Physical Therapist, you will utilize various treatments to help patients increase strength, range of motion, endurance and coordination. Because this position requires close physical interaction, you have the unique opportunity to develop strong patient relationships. Often, your patients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity is essential. Equally important is giving patients the drive and support they need to work hard and regain their health.
A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, including two weekend days per month and as-needed weekdays.
A caregiver who excels in this role, will:
Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
Perform initial and on-going assessments of patient's condition.
Establish, revise and evaluate a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
Perform therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
Supervise activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support personnel.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Bachelor's Degree or certificate
Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
Current State licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Experience in a clinical area
Acute care Physical Therapy experience
