We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Carrier Manager to join our dynamic freight brokerage team. This role is critical in building and maintaining strong carrier relationships, optimizing truckload capacity, and ensuring exceptional service delivery to our customers. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of carrier networks, customer supply chains, and freight market dynamics, with a proven ability to drive strategic partnerships and cost-effective solutions.
Responsibilities
The Carrier Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the freight brokerage division by owning the end-to-end carrier relationship lifecycle. This includes strategic sourcing, capacity planning, cost control, and service execution. The role directly influences the brokerage’s ability to meet customer expectations, optimize transportation spend, and achieve annual operating goals. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with operations, sales, and customer service teams, and demands a high level of responsiveness, strategic thinking, and market insight. This role also serves as a key escalation point for carrier-related issues and is expected to provide 24/7 support as needed to ensure seamless execution and service continuity.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of strategic freight carriers’ daily truck capacity and network capabilities.
- Understand and align with customers’ supply chain operations, service requirements, and new initiatives to ensure a favorable service perception.
- Lead all aspects of carrier prospecting, onboarding, negotiations, and relationship management to foster long-term partnerships.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for carrier development issues, providing 24/7 accountability and support to ensure execution aligns with the brokerage’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Maintain consistent communication with carriers and internal teams via phone, including active participation in phone queues.
- Support and enforce key brokerage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
- Manage and mitigate carrier costs through both short-term and long-term contractual strategies.
- Participate in on-call rotations, including after-hours and weekend coverage, as required by business needs.
Scope of Interactions:
- 80% External - New and existing asset-based carriers
- 20% Internal - Collaboration with business development, account management, and leadership teams
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $53,600 - $80,450.
- Carrier Manager Bonus Structure: Our bonus structure consists of two independent components: Individual Performance and Business Performance.
- Individual Performance: This portion is tied to your personal performance metrics. It is uncapped, meaning the payout increases with higher performance.
- Business Performance: This component is based on the company’s overall performance during the bonus period.
Both components operate independently and together can result in a minimum bonus payout of 1.54% of your salary, distributed on a periodic basis

Qualifications
- High School Diploma/ GED required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
