Component Design Engineer

Indianapolis, IN

The JSF Turbomachinery Component Design Engineer will support design activities for JSF LiftFan components in accordance with LiftSystem requirements. In this role, the candidate conducts analysis of component and system requirements and defines component design requirements, as well as any specific manufacturing requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute new component designs and design changes through RR Process Change and Design Technical Approval processes
  • Deliver technical solutions from concept through to implementation into product configuration
  • Develop and specify component design requirements in accordance with JSF module, system, and customer interface requirements
  • Address manufacturing, assembly, in-field, and aftermarket issues as they arise
  • Conduct design-based analysis in support of JSF LiftSystem technical issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2 or more years of design experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, OR
  • JD/PhD.
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with generic design processes as well as component specific design guidance and design methods and practices
  • Familiarity with Compressors Statics and Structures
  • Experience using computer aided design tools such as NX
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T)
