We are looking to hire full-time Occupational Safety and Health Specialist to perform advisory and assistance services to the AF Occupational Safety mission at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. The Occupational Safety Specialist position provides services in support of the Air Force Occupational Safety Division of the Air Force Safety Center.

Occupational Safety Specialist should be:

  • Knowledge and experience with the Air Force publications system, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures and standards applicable to the Air Force mishap prevention program
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA, Federal Safety and Occupational Health Standards, and national consensus agencies safety guidance
  • Knowledge of installation safety and occupational health program requirements,
    including administrative, traffic/vehicle safety, industrial operations and off-duty safety programs.

Provide support for ongoing traffic and occupational safety activities and research efforts:

  • Prepare reports for Air Force commanders/managers identifying unsafe operations and conditions, and provide recommendations.
  • In coordination with Air Force team, ensure Air Force safety guidance and publications meet national safety laws, regulations and standards.
  • In coordination with Air Force team, develop, revise, and maintain the safety and occupational health instructions, rules/regulations and develop recommended corrective measures and alternative measures.
  • Provide support in answering field, MAJCOM, and higher headquarters inquiries.
  • Develop and conduct a comprehensive safety education program including formal training sessions.
  • Evaluate and determine causal factors contributing to mishaps and hazardous working conditions.

Education

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience

Qualifications/Certifications

  • T-1 background investigation
  • Proficient in MS Office (MS-Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
