About the role

We are looking to add a Sr. HR Generalist to join our Talent & Culture team in Waukee. Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.

 

This role will sup support all facets of the employee lifecycle for our Enterprise Services employees and leaders.  The individual in this role will also partner closely with the Business Partner & Generalist team on compensation strategies, employee changes, job descriptions, performance management communications and administration, and policy/procedure interpretation, creation and updates.

Here’s just a bit of what you’d do:

  • Consultation and Advisory: Advise managers on employee and team needs, best practices, and policy interpretations.
  • Employee Relations: Assist managers with employee relations issues and conversations.
  • Collaboration with HR Experts: Partner with HR specialists (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Engagement, Growth & Development) for talent solutions.
  • Onboarding and Orientation: Conduct New Employee Orientation sessions in collaboration with the Engagement Consultant.
  • Employee Experience and Career Development: Support employee surveys, action planning, role clarity, career pathing, and participate in special projects.
  • HR Foundations: Be the key owner of enterprise-wide initiatives, such as Employee Handbook,

 

You’d also need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the job, including, but not limited to, having:

  • HR Standards and Compliance: Apply solid knowledge of HR standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and government laws to ensure organizational compliance and effective HR operations.
  • Talent Development Coordination: Collaborate effectively with the Talent Acquisition Consultant to coordinate and enhance Talent Development Programs.
  • Self-Directed and Proactive: Demonstrate the ability to work independently, showing initiative and motivation in all tasks.
  • Detail-Oriented and Confidential: Execute tasks with strong attention to detail and maintain confidentiality in all HR matters.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with leaders and employees at all levels, fostering cross-functional collaboration and communication.
  • Effective Multitasking and Prioritization: Organize and prioritize work efficiently, managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high productivity.
  • Clear and Professional Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with teammates to ensure timely and effective completion of duties.
  • Interpersonal and Presentation Skills: Utilize strong written, verbal, and presentation skills to convey information effectively and build positive relationships.
  • Knowledgeable in Compliance Issues: Apply knowledge of human resource compliance issues, including ADA, FMLA, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, EEOC Guidelines, and other applicable guidelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Use HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro) proficiently to support HR functions.
  • Continuous Learning: Pursue relevant designations and continuing education opportunities to stay current in the field.
  • Adherence to Privacy Policies: Ensure compliance with HMA's Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations, and E&O procedures and policies.

And, let’s not forget the qualifications for the job:

  • Education: High school diploma; college degree in Human Resources or Business-related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years general HR experience required.
