What You’ll Do:
Navitas is seeking a Database Management Specialist will support enterprise-level data center operations, database administration, system configuration, and security enforcement across complex environments. This role ensures the integrity, recoverability, and high availability of mission-critical databases and associated middleware products.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:- Define file organization, indexing methods, and database/application security procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain backup and recovery strategies ensuring data integrity and recoverability.
- Install, manage, monitor, tune, and patch Oracle 19c and associated Oracle 12c products.
- Implement and manage Oracle Grid/Cloud Control.
- Monitor servers and application environments for performance and security.
- Assist with server design, installation, configuration, and data center best practices.
- Apply monthly/quarterly security patches to databases and middleware; ensure compliance.
- Encrypt databases containing PII and support database/middleware upgrades reaching end of vendor support.
- Write Linux/Windows shell scripts for process automation.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for database, middleware, and network issues.
- Support development teams with connectivity problems, performance tuning, and logic troubleshooting.
- Install/maintain Oracle HTTP Server; deploy and renew SSL certificates.
- Configure proxy services and recommend enhancements to firewall policies.
- Maintain VMware clusters, create VMs, manage snapshots, and apply patches.
- Design and execute backup strategies using Commvault, AWS storage, VMware snapshots, Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and Flashback.
- Support Oracle and IBM DB2 backups and participate in periodic disaster recovery exercises.
- Manage secure file transfers using GoAnywhere and open-source tools; assist with mainframe file uploads.
- Set up and maintain Oracle APEX environments and develop APEX reporting applications.
- Support daily data center operations and legacy Oracle environments.
- Assist with data center migrations (legacy → on-prem, on-prem → AWS).
- Provide weekly status reports (tasks completed, planned, risks/issues).
- Perform additional MLDS, MSDE, CCATS, and MDA database administration duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field; or 3+ years of equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle database administration (Oracle 19c/12c).
- Strong experience with backup/recovery, patching, tuning, and enterprise-level database management.
- Proficiency with Oracle Grid/Cloud Control, Oracle middleware (OBIEE, WebCenter, OHS), and SSL management.
- Experience with VMware, Linux/Windows server environments, and automation scripting.
- Knowledge of cloud migration and hybrid environments (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with secure file transfer tools, data encryption, and firewall rule design.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across databases, middleware, and network environments.
- Experience supporting APEX, DB2, and legacy database systems is a plus.
