Physician Assistant (Telehealth)

Boulder Care is looking for a Physician Assistant who is licensed in Oregon, is aligned with Harm Reduction principles, and has experience prescribing medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). This is a 100% remote, 40-hours a week.

This is a temporary appointment expected to last 6-months with the potential to turn into a permanent role after the 6-months. 

We are looking for individuals who:

• Hold an active PA license in OR
• Have at least 1 year of experience prescribing Medication for Opioid Use Disorder in an outpatient setting
• Are interested in full-time work (40 hours a week) with a Monday-Friday schedule of 10am - 6pm Pacific Time 
• Are open to a 6 month temporary role with potential for conversation

About the role

• This position is 100% remote
• The Physician Assistant works directly with patients to deliver medication-assisted recovery for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and empowers patients in their recovery journeys in coordination with the Care Team (primarily Care Advocates and Peer Recovery Specialists)
• Our clinicians deliver compassionate and empathetic telephonic, text-based, and video-based (telehealth) patient engagement and monitoring

Success in this role 

Essential Functions - Patient Facing (85%)

• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage ongoing care for individuals with complex substance use disorders (SUDs) and related comorbidities
• Understand, embrace, and incorporate harm reduction practices into all patient care 
• Help elicit patients’ own goals for their recovery and help them in achieving these goals over time through therapeutic alliance and shared decision-making
• Educate patients on Boulder’s model of care, SUDs, related comorbidities, recovery strategies, and safer use where appropriate
• Coordinate with teammates and Clinical Leadership to develop and oversee treatment plans, adjusting them as needed
• Provide patient care coverage during some nonstandard hours, including evenings and weekends
• Use technology effectively to facilitate a safe & rewarding patient experience
• Interpret and share clinical results with patients without judgment in order to help them meet their goals and stay safe
• Enable care coordination, connecting patients to clinical resources within and outside of Boulder through referrals where necessary, working with Peer Recovery Specialists, Case Managers, and Care Advocates & Navigators to help patients access social resources and navigate the healthcare system

Essential Functions - Administrative (15%)

• Participate in Department and Company-wide meetings (ECHO, All Hands, Pod meetings, Care Team, etc.)  
• Deliver proactive, clear, and constructive feedback and collaborate with Boulder’s Technology and Operations teams to troubleshoot as we continuously build out our digital treatment platforms
• Within 24h of patient visit, complete and sign all visit documentation including all relevant information to enable consistent, high-quality team-based care
• Monitor regularly email and all relevant channels for updates, team communication, and patient care collaboration
• Understand and follow Boulder’s policies and procedures
