Job Summary

The Junior Accountant role at Mazzetti is ideal for a detail-oriented, early-career accounting professional who wants to build real, hands-on experience in a dynamic AEC environment. This role offers meaningful exposure to the full accounting lifecycle—month-end close, payroll, compliance, and accounts payable—within a collaborative Finance team that values learning, accuracy, and shared success.

Your Tasks Will Involve

Core Accounting & Month-End Close

• Assist with multi-company month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and support journal entries related to month-end close.
• Complete assigned groups of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Every balance sheet account must be reconciled monthly.
  • Reconciliations will primarily be routine or lower-complexity accounts.
• Review account activity to identify errors, missing entries, or discrepancies.
• Support accurate and timely financial reporting.

Payroll & Employee-Related Accounting

• Process multi-state payroll under supervision.
• Support payroll-related activities including:
  • Garnishments
  • W-2s and 1095-Cs
• Assist with payroll audits and reporting as needed.

Compliance, Taxes & Regulatory Support

• Assist with setting up payroll and tax requirements for new states.
• Support state-specific tax filings and compliance tasks.
• Assist with workers’ compensation filings and audits.
• Help maintain company compliance and good-standing requirements.

Accounts Payable & Finance Support

• Review accounts payable transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable processing as needed.
• Assist with general Finance team tasks and special projects.

Cross-Training & Development

• Gain exposure to payroll, accounts payable, and broader accounting processes.
• Learn Mazzetti’s financial systems, controls, and AEC-specific accounting practices.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
