Cruise is looking for a Senior Acoustic Engineer II to develop and work with automotive audio hardware, driving microarchitecture design, and bench validation. Responsibilities will include development platform selection for both prototyping and end of line testing: interacting with DSPs, Codecs, and digital audio protocols will be a core facet of the role. Your time will be split between multiple modalities of acoustic sensing, two way voice/telephony, and in cab audio quality applications. In this hybrid working arrangement, a baseline of 3 days a week onsite is expected.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Architect of block diagrams for audio subsystems/micro-architectures
- Develop industry expertise with regards to available development and prototyping platforms for cutting edge protocols
- Authoring and/or review of test plans vetting architectural decisions and implementation
- Interfacing with vendors of 3rd party audio processing modules
- Supporting embedded systems and product teams implementing audio features
- Supporting audio requirement verification by hardware vendors and commercial partners
- Supporting & reviewing low level requirement generation of audio systems
- Supporting audio feature development / milestone planning
- Prototyping next generation audio experiences
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
- 5+ years of cumulative experience in acoustics, time series or speech signal processing, Matlab, audio, and algorithm development
- An understanding of physical acoustics
- Fundamentals of electrical circuits
- Exposure to bulk data processing
- Familiarity with speech processing/systems
- Foundations in digital audio, protocols, and information theory
- Strong organizational, visual and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of hardware and firmware development cycles
- Audio system design/prototyping experience

The salary range for this position is $137,400 - 202,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
