TITLE: Senior Advanced Product Engineer
DUTIES: We seek a Senior Advanced Product Engineer based out of our office at 3000 University Drive, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. This position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.
Design and develop fuel handling components for Internal Combustion Engine (“ICE”)systems, which includes Evaporative Emission Canisters and Fuel Delivery Modules, as well as, hydrogen ICE and hydrogen fuel cells, to drive opportunities that are focused on alternative fuels and meet market demands for automotive, motorcycle, marine, and other off-road applications. Develop and optimize design concepts in conjunction with test, mfg. and tool engineers. Lead the investigation, the design and analysis of new engineering projects, as well as, apply standard analytical methods, structured problem solving, and physical testing for the validation of the proposed product and its performance; this includes addressing various issues throughout the design validation process. Prepare conformance statements for new projects and escalate risks to management. Prepare and present engineering documentation for risk based design reviews. Utilize CAD analysis tools, identify special product characteristics utilizing GD&T and assure proper assignment in various 2-dimenional and 3-dimenstionalviews as it pertains to design proposals. Develop advanced design documentation such as technical guidelines, BOM's, DFMEA's, ADVP&Rs and drawings. Procure and build prototype samples for test setups, performance testing or customer builds. Support project team implementation plans, timing activities and communication mtgs. by effectively communicating design proposals to the customer, internal team members, and potentially outside sub-suppliers; this includes continuously adapting the product design proposal based on feedback from all stakeholders. Serve as primary point of contact with the customer, share information and disseminate within the organization. Conduct competitive analysis / benchmarking of technology and cost estimation using company / competitor product portfolios in order to generate product design proposals that meet customer-specific requirements for performance and packaging; this includes identifying and providing product design solutions for continuous improvement opportunities specific to performance and/or cost, as well as, determining future state needs of the industry and/or specific customers.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering and 60 months of experience in job offered or related.
Required experience must include: Experience with the design and function of automotive fuel and vapor management systems; Experience with interpreting customer and OEM’s vehicle fuel system architectures and design requirements in order to develop evaporative canisters’ designs and product guidelines; Knowledge about emission regulations for different government agencies in North America (EPA, CARB), Europe, Asia and South America (Proconve L8); Understanding Cost analysis tools and pricing structure for Vapor Canister assemblies and its sub-components; Experience with performing canister s
