This job handles all clerical functions which support the employee health patients and staff including typing, filing, copying and distribution of confidential documentation, composing correspondence, ordering of medical and office supplies, and collecting payments from patients. Handles all new hire processing including scheduling appointments and ordering requests for patients. Performs medical assistant functions if applicable.

Education

Required - Graduate of a medical assistant program.


Work Experience

Required - 2 years of human resources, worker’s compensation, medical assistant or other relevant clinic experience to include experience in an ambulatory care setting.

Certifications

Preferred - BLS from American Heart Association.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Working knowledge of HIPPA and other regulatory agencies and strong telephone etiquette skills.

  • Ability to effectively handle heavy volume telephone system, utilize numerous systems and applications and independently think through situations.

  • Legible handwriting, spelling/grammar aptitude and ability to set priorities and follow directions.

  • Ability to adjust to various demands and operate business equipment (computer, laser printer, color printer, copy machine, fax, telephone, scanner, etc).

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters related to co-workers and employees.

  • Ability to function calmly under pressure or stressful situations and with frequent interruptions.

  • Ability to exhibit professionalism with dress code and behavior.


Job Duties

  • Handles registration.

  • Maintains employee documentation.

  • Provides administrative support.

  • Orders medical and office supplies.

  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

  • Performs other related duties as required.
