Position Overview
The U+M=BRAIN Lab is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral fellow to join our international and multidisciplinary team advancing research on global brain health equity. Our lab focuses on understanding, detecting, predicting, and preventing cognitive impairment and dementia, with an emphasis on underserved and majority world populations. This unique opportunity will enable the successful candidate to contribute to groundbreaking research aimed at promoting diagnostic and therapeutic equity for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) globally.
The fellow will play a key role in our culturally informed precision prevention research, contributing to data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings. Additionally, they will mentor students and contribute to the development of diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment monitoring tools tailored to diverse global populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data for manuscript preparation.
- Lead and contribute to the writing of peer-reviewed publications.
- Develop and assist in the preparation of pilot projects and grant proposals.
- Present research findings at professional meetings and conferences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams across diverse projects.
- Mentor students and support their professional development.
- Participate in career development activities and lab initiatives.
- Manage projects including but not limited to prepare lab SOPs, IRB submissions, grants submission and reporting, conference preparations, etc.
- Other duties commensurate to the roles as required by PI.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in epidemiology and biostatistics, neuroscience, public health, or a related field.
- Experience with real-world data and advanced statistical analyses using tools such as STATA, SAS, or R.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis is advantageous.
- Demonstrated career interest in brain health equity, cognitive aging, and dementia research.
Supervision
The fellow will work under the direction of Dr. Udeh-Momoh and receive mentorship and guidance throughout the fellowship.
About the U+M = BRAIN Lab
Dr. Udeh-Momoh’s lab conducts pioneering research on dementia prevention in underserved populations globally. With a focus on culturally adapting and validating diagnostic tools, the lab integrates cutting-edge biomarkers, digital technologies, and machine learning to address disparities in ADRD research. Current projects span Africa, South Asia, and underserved populations in the UK and US, using bio-psycho-social frameworks to examine the life course attributes influencing dementia risk.
The lab's ultimate goal is to develop equitable diagnostic and treatment toolkits tailored to the unique needs of both low- and high-income contexts, contributing to global diagnostic equity and sustainable prevention strategies.
