Summary:

The Business Intelligence Analyst bridges the business and technical sides of analytics at Tri Star Energy. This role focuses on developing and optimizing Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models while collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure BI deliverables are actionable, accurate, and aligned with evolving business needs. This individual will gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and guide the organization in adopting BI best practices.

The BI Analyst will act as both a consultant and a problem-solver—clarifying requirements, designing effective dashboards, enforcing data hygiene practices, and educating the business on BI best practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and the Data/BI team to gather and document reporting requirements.
• Facilitate discussions to understand data needs, KPIs, and decision-making priorities across departments.
• Translate business requests into clear technical specifications for Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers.
• Provide input on how reporting and BI can be standardized, automated, or visualized more effectively.

Reporting & Visualization

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets that meet business requirements, ensuring usability, accuracy, and alignment with business needs.
• Apply data storytelling principles to make dashboards intuitive and actionable.
• Support standardization of reporting templates and encourage best practices for design consistency and data usage across the organization.
