Interventional Cardiologist | Rapid City, South Dakota

Sanford Health is seeking two BC/BE fellowship trained Interventional Cardiologists to establish and grow a new Interventional Cardiology service line in Rapid City, South Dakota.
• This is a unique opportunity for a physician who is excited by program development and wants to play a key role in shaping the future of cardiovascular care across western SD and the surrounding region
• The successful candidate will work closely with Sanford Health leadership, referring providers, and regional specialists to build a thriving interventional practice
• Opportunity to help define clinical strategy, referral development, and service growth
• The clinical practice in the building phase will be approximately 50% General Cardiology / 50% Interventional Cardiology
• As the interventional practice matures, the procedural component is expected to grow with increasing referral volume
• Provide Interventional Cardiology services, including coronary and peripheral interventions based on training and experience.
• Participate in call coverage
• Existing cath lab in the Sanford Black Hills Surgical Hospital
• Imaging – MRI, CT, PET, and Echo available

• Inpatient consults at the Sanford Black Hills Surgical Hospital, low volume
• Transfer agreement in place to local hospital for cardio-thoracic surgery support if needed

Job Description

Interventional Cardiology Core Privileges includes the ability to perform history and physical examinations, admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, and valvular heart disease.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways: An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log with a minimum of 250 therapeutic interventional cardiac procedures documented and a letter of reference must come from the fellowship director. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. For Interventional catheterization skills, applicants should provide documentation of 250 interventional procedures as the primary operator within the past 24 months and a letter of reference regarding competency from the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the institution where the applicant most recently practiced. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required. For Interventional catheterization skills, applicants should provide documentation of 250 interventional procedures as the primary operator within the past 24 months and a letter of reference regarding competency from the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the institution where the applicant most recently practiced.
