Overview:

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is hiring an RN (Registered Nurse) to join our Intermediate Care Team (IMCU). The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

• Night Shift 7pm - 7am
• 1:4- 5 patient ratio

Our patient population in our 24-bed unit are patients needing intermediate level of care.  Our primary population requires BiPAP.  We have four (4) designated ventilator beds, and Phillips wall mounted monitors in all rooms to monitor our telemetry patients. We can assist you with earning your PCCN Certification and/ or MedSurg Certification.  ICU is our “sister” unit, and we share the same education team. 

We have started a brand-new IMC/ICU BRIDGE PROGRAM.  The IMC/ICU Bridge Program is an evidence-based initiative designed to equip Intermediate Care (IMC) Registered Nurses (RNs) with the essential knowledge, clinical competencies, and confidence required to manage critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This program addresses the complexities of critical care nursing, facilitating a seamless transition for IMC nurses into the ICU environment. Once the IMC RN completes 12 to 18 months in the IMC at Sentara Princess Anne, the employee is given priority consideration to transfer to ICU if the employee meets the requirements.

Education

• RN-Associate’s Degree, or
• RN-Bachelor’s Degree, or
• RN-Diploma, or
• RN-Master’s Degree

Certification / License

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire

Experience

• New Grads Welcome to apply who have previous experience in a direct patient care role. Example:  Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, etc. We set you up for success by offering a Transition to Practice Program that supports new RN Graduates. We want to ensure your success as a new nurse and help you develop clinical reasoning and competency in clinical nursing practice.
