TEGNA, one of the most geographically diverse broadcasters in the U.S., is seeking a Manager, Credit and Collections to join our Shared Services team. This position will be part of the TEGNA corporate team with company-wide responsibility but will be physically located at our NBC Affiliate in Indianapolis, WTHR. The Manager will manage and direct the activities of the Credit team and the Local and National Collection team, providing leadership, motivation, training, and guidance to department staff with a positive attitude. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining their own portfolio of specifically identified accounts to maintain relations and proper aged account balances.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and direct activities of the credit and collections team including assignments, scheduling, monitoring, reviewing, and approving department work.
  • Ensure policies and procedures that govern the evaluation, granting and ongoing monitoring of client credit and releasing cash-in-advance orders on hold processes are adhered to including rules within Dunn & Bradstreet's credit evaluation tool.
  • Work with station executive personnel to resolve customer credit issues.
  • Ensure accounts sent to outside collections are properly reflected in the sub-ledgers and that all accounts are sent to outside collections or legal department per policy.
  • Ensure customer profiles are updated with the proper Collection Status.
  • Set goals for staff, including metrics/KPI's and monitors success or failure to achieve such goals.
  • Ensure the Credit and Collection teams respond to customer (station personnel or clients) inquiries in a timely and positive manner, escalating issues to appropriate management as needed.
  • Assist in developing and updating new and existing department policies and procedures.
  • Work with internal and external audit functions.
  • Serve as administrator for the online payment portal (WideOrbit Payments).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 7 years of business-to-business collection experience
  • 3 years of experience managing/training a medium-to-large staff handling B2B credit and collections teams and setting credit and collection goals and metrics
  • Experience working with and supporting sales groups in multiple locations nationwide
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and proven customer service skills
  • Well-versed in collection techniques in a "soft-collection" environment that strives to maintain customer relationships
  • Experience working with outside collection agencies and filing Proof of Claims
  • Above average Excel skills including data manipulation
  • Experience running virtual meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broadcast industry and WideOrbit experience
  • Experience with collection software tools
