Senior Claims Expert

<p>As a member of SCOR Global P&amp;C’s worldwide Claims Department the Senior claims expert will: </p> <ul> <li>Manage a portfolio of reinsurance treaty claims from business underwritten within our France/Belux Treaty Division. Business will include an established property, construction and liability treaty book and the role will include the claims adjustment and oversight of a number of losses under both proportional and excess reinsurance contracts.</li> <li>Assist the Head of Paris Treaty Claims in the delivery of SCOR’s claims strategy and service for France/Belux treaty portfolio emanating from the EMEA Treaty Division. </li> <li>Provide legal and technical support to cedants in order to contribute to the internal control of technical costs and the preservation of the quality of the contracts underwritten. </li> </ul> <p>Support the EMEA Treaty Division Client Engagement Plan, by completing a number of clients visits and audits required on an annual basis.</p> <p><strong>Responsabilities and competencies:</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Head of Paris treaty claims:</p> <ul> <li>Evaluating, developing, reporting on, and resolving complex and/or higher value individual claims, ensuring Underwriters are advised of any contractual/legal issues.</li> <li>Ensure alignment with existing processes and deliver a uniform and enhanced claims service for claims under responsibility.</li> <li>Approving financial transactions on claims within the individual’s authority</li> <li>Comply with the reporting and control duties towards effective Claims Management.</li> <li>Deliver on the division’s annual client engagement plan both locally and on major accounts, to support the underwriting &amp; actuarial reserving process within EMEA Treaty Division. External engagement will be expected to be performed individually, when requested and required.</li> <li>Deliver superior customer service.</li> <li>Providing legal and technical support to cedants in order to contribute to the internal control of technical costs and the preservation of the quality of the contracts underwritten.</li> <li>Might represent SCOR at internal and external forums.</li> <li>Under the supervision of Head of Paris Treaty Claims, report major losses and/or Natural Catastrophe Events to the Senior Claims Management and the Claims Operations team consistent with internal guidelines.</li> <li>Work effectively with others within the Claims Department, particularly with other Claim Experts, the Major Loss and Closing Team and Technical Administration unit, to ensure prompt turnaround and response to clients.</li> <li>Work closely and effectively with other internal stakeholders including Underwriters and Actuarial, providing support and insight when required and appropriate.</li> <li>Keep abreast of claim and industry developments/trends to maintain a high level of expertise. </li> <li>Assist in the monitoring of potential exposures (‘watchlist claims’) and reviewing appropriateness of historical reserves (‘statics’)</li> <li>Review clauses and wordings in co-operation with Underwriting and the Legal Department</li> <li>Demonstrate commitment for achieving team and department objectives and adjust work activities accordingly.</li> <li>Coach, mentor and assist in the training of more junior claim staff where appropriate.</li> <li>Strict adherence to internal controls and procedures</li> <li>Participate in projects as required.</li> <li>Manage company resources responsibly and effectively.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Required experience &amp; competencies:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Senior insurance/reinsurance claims handling professional.</li> <li>Extensive experience of the markets and practices within responsibility</li> <li>Experience of managing a portfolio of complex claims within assigned business areas</li> <li>Excellent technical experience of property, liability, and construction claims.</li> </ul> <p></p> SCOR, the 4th largest reinsurer in the world, provides insurance companies with a diversified and innovative range of solutions and services to control and manage risk.
