WHAT YOU’LL DO

Teach for America is increasing our investment in our student outcomes strategy that combines multiple approaches to understand how our students are performing and use student data for program improvement. We are looking for a seasoned and dynamic individual to support this work through the collection of student data from our district and school partners for a portfolio of TFA regions. The Director, Regional Data Analytics is a key role focused on enhancing the educational success of students through strategic data sharing partnerships with schools and districts. This position is responsible for working within their portfolio of TFA regions to collect local education agency (LEA) and/or state education agency (SEA) academic outcomes data to monitor student learning (ex: classroom rosters, interim assessments, state assessments). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in student data management, while excelling at building relationships and managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

  • Build and manage strategic data sharing partnerships with school districts and state agencies (30%)

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and State Education Agencies (SEAs) across a portfolio of regions

    • Establish trust with district and state partners to facilitate timely sharing of student achievement data

    • Coordinate with Legal and internal stakeholders to support data sharing agreements and ensure compliance with student privacy requirements

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for partner agencies throughout the data collection process

  • Lead regional student data collection projects (25%)

    • Develop and manage project plans for collecting student academic data across a portfolio of regional partners

    • Coordinate timelines, stakeholder communication, and milestones across multiple concurrent projects

    • Monitor progress and proactively resolve challenges to ensure successful completion of annual data collection efforts

    • Keep regional teams informed on the status of data sharing, collection, and reporting activities

  • Analyze and translate student achievement data into actionable insights (25%)

    • Clean, validate, and prepare student assessment data for analysis and reporting

    • Analyze student achievement outcomes to identify trends and opportunities for program improvement

    • Create reports and summaries that help regional teams, leadership, and development staff understand student outcomes and tell Teach For America’s story of impact

    • Translate complex analyses into clear, accessible insights that help Teach For America improve programming

  • Strengthen organizational data practices and continuous improvement (20%)

    • Ensure data collection, storage, and reporting comply with organizational policies and student data privacy requirements

    • Support regional staff through training and consultation on student outcome data and interpretation

    • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate workflows, and increase efficiency in data collection and analysis

    • Contribute to the ongoing development of the organization's student outcomes strategy and best practices


 

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Director, Regional Data Analytics will spend time: 

  • Engaging with state and district leaders to gather student assessment data

  • Collecting, cleaning, organizing, analyzing and visualizing data for internal and external use 

  • Working directly with program staff, to interpret data and build shared fluency and action plans for improvement 

  • Participating in professional learning communities to share best practices across regions 

  • Codifying work, best practices in ways that are accessible to others
