Our location in Des Plaines, IL currently has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Processing Engineer.  In this role you will conduct small-sized projects within the engineering specialty, requiring conventional types of plans, investigations, and equipment. This role involves implementing plans, initiating work execution, monitoring adherence to plans, and reporting to management. The Project Manager will facilitate project scope definition with clients, convert goals to tasks, and manage multiple concurrent tasks to meet or exceed expectations in cost, quality, and time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Project Management:

  • Plan and conduct small-sized projects within the engineering specialty.
  • Implement and initiate execution of work plans.
  • Monitor project execution for adherence to plans and report status to management.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope with clients and convert goals to tasks.
  • Manage several concurrent tasks to meet or exceed expectations in cost, quality, and time.
  • Participate in basic economic analysis and feasibility studies related to project alternatives.
  • Jointly responsible for achieving the project’s financial targets in support of business objectives.

Technical/Design:

  • Stay current with the changing technical and competitive environment.
  • Keep abreast of technology in the engineering area and share knowledge with co-workers.
  • Assist in the design of products, processes, equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Conduct tests or experiments, gather data, and perform preliminary analysis.
  • Prepare and communicate recommendations and action plans.

Problem Solving/Innovation:

  • Create or modify designs for basic problems.
  • Review existing layouts and standards and create proposed designs.
  • Apply standard engineering principles to interpret problems and recommend solutions.
  • Improve methods, designs, and processes, and implement cost reductions.

Organizational Interface:

  • Assist in training personnel for the operation of facilities and equipment.
  • Establish contacts with supervisors, project leaders, and other professionals.
  • Prepare written communications and convey information effectively.
  • Obtain approval for proposed action plans and follow through on project goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Compliance:

  • Comply with all regulations and standards for quality, Environment, Health, Safety, and Energy (EHS&E).
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of assigned tasks.
  • Identify areas of risk with respect to compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of procedures and standards.
  • Coordinate with technical support personnel for prototype or experimental runs.
  • Direct the efforts of technicians and outside resources.
  • Perform tasks such as writing Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), safety/quality checklists, and scope documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING                                                

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with a variety of material testing and measuring methods.
  • Knowledge of Database software; CAD software; Development software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Microsoft Excel software and Microsoft Word software.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as ANSI/AQL, probability and statistics.
