2026 - 2027 CERTIFIED TRADES SUPERVISOR

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Certified Trades Supervisor oversees the daily operations and field execution of assigned skilled trades functions, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, and other maintenance disciplines as assigned. This position supervises trade staff and contractors, coordinates maintenance activities, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supports efficient delivery of services to maintain safe, functional, and well-maintained school facilities. The Supervisor partners with district leaders and school-based operations teams to prioritize work, resolve operational issues, and support reliable facility performance across the district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Supervises licensed technicians, trade staff, and contractors across assigned skilled trades areas and promotes accountability, customer service, and safe work practices
• Assigns, schedules, prioritizes, and monitors work orders, preventative maintenance, and repair activities to ensure timely service delivery
• Conducts field inspections and monitors quality, workmanship, and compliance with district standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinates maintenance and repair activities with school leaders, internal departments, vendors, and contractors to ensure work is completed on time and within scope  
• Supports workforce planning activities including scheduling, onboarding, training, staffing recommendations, and performance monitoring
• Tracks operational performance metrics, maintains records and reports, and supports continuous improvement efforts
• Supports maintenance and repair projects and assists with managing assigned budgets, materials, tools, equipment, and operational resources
• Identifies facility repair needs and provides recommendations for maintenance priorities, asset replacement, and long-term facility improvements
• Responds to facility-related emergencies, participates in on-call coverage, and ensures timely resolution of urgent operational issues
• Serves as the operational point of contact for schools and departments to address maintenance concerns and escalations and performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or representative
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• Associate degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Building Systems, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

• Valid driver's license
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA)
• Relevant trade license in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, or related field preferred
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred
• EPA Section 608 Certification (for HVAC/refrigerant handling) preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, skilled trades operations, or related field
• 2 years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing trade staff or contractors preferred
• Experience coordinating maintenance operations, preventive maintenance programs, and service delivery activities preferred
• Experience in K�12 education or public sector preferred
