Position Summary:

As a key member of the Global Brand Strategy (GBS) team, the Director, Global Brand Strategy, is responsible for leading commercial initiatives in support of the successful commercialization of our pipeline programs. The role closely collaborates with stakeholders across Ultragenyx’s region teams to identify important market trends, develop and implement global commercialization strategies, and communicate with senior leaders within a fast moving, challenging and dynamic commercial environment.  This role is also responsible for managing a consistent brand and tactical planning process for the assigned program(s).   

Work Model: 

Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with Global and Region stakeholders on commercialization launch preparations for assigned program(s) 
  • Identify and execute on insights/market research needs to inform effective decisions 
  • Proactively monitor the competitive market landscape  
  • Deliver impactful brand and/or market development strategies that are well articulated, communicated, and agreed to by the relevant parties  
  • Help drive commercial leadership on cross-functional, and cross-geography launch teams to ensure effective allocation of effort and resources 
  • Ensure Commercial considerations are included in program core team decisions related to data generation, trial strategy, clinical study site selection, medical strategy development, lifecycle management and manufacturing 
  • Oversee all aspects of global brand development and ongoing management of global brand identity for commercialized assets  
  • Help lead the annual brand and tactical planning process for the assigned program(s) 
  • Lead projects on specific program(s) as appropriate/required by the group on projects requiring GBS input, example: discrete market research exploration, business development partnership with internal teams  

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of bio/pharmaceutical commercial experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or science; advanced degree preferred (e.g. MBA, MS, Ph.D.) 
  • Successful candidates will have a proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with a high degree of collaboration, and a strong patient focus 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and act creatively to develop and align teams to brand strategy 
  • Proven experience working with and managing external partners (including market research agencies, creative agencies, management consulting agencies, and pharma commercial partners) 
  • Excellent analytical skills with respect to identifying market trends, market sizing, competitive landscape and ability to link i
