PRINCIPLE PURPOSE:

• The principle purpose of the Calvert City Plant Manager is to coordinate the activities of the manufacturing facility to meet the goals established for safety, environmental performance, products, quality and costs. The Plant Manager has overall responsibility for the Carbopol polymer manufacturing platform in the Calvert City plant. This includes directly overseeing the operation of the Calvert City plant at a required volume and product mix in order to optimize performance parameters including cost control and also to achieve high morale and customer awareness among all employees.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and policies are met.
• Maintain high morale and customer awareness among employees.
• Operate the Calvert City plant at required volume and product mix to optimize performance parameters including cost control.
• Operate plant within budget for optimum base unit costs.
• Continue the improvement of product quality and delight the customer with product performance & consistency.
• Continue to improve process technology as appropriate and commercialize new technology.
• Implement and maintain superior quality assurance systems.
• Direct/develop management team and resolve personnel issues.
• Support the Strategic plan to achieve milestones and objectives.
• Develop and implement appropriate manufacturing strategy at Calvert City.
• Participate in community events supported by the company.
• Accountability and Decision Making:
  • Accountable for personal safety and that of others in the workplace. 

• RC14001 / HSES Goals for Individual:
  • Adhere to all RC14001 and HSES procedures and practices to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills, releases and near misses immediately to the Supervisor or HSES Department. Safety suggestions should also be reported.
  • Complete any required safety training in the month it is assigned.
  • Provide sufficient resources to implement control and improve the RC14001 and HSES programs. Provide information and feedback to the HSES Department as appropriate.
  • Appoint a RC14001 Management Representative.
  • Participate in RC14001 Management Review meetings, if available.
  • Approve overall organizational targets and objectives.
  • Approve the RC14001 policy for the Calvert City Plant              
• EXCIPACT GMP Goals for Individual:
  • Comply with ISO 9001:2015/EXCIPACT GMP Quality System

• Other duties as assigned by Manager.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Technical Degree in Engineering (or related field), minimum 15 years of manufacturing experience. Prior managerial experience preferred.
• Incumbent must have a basic understanding of chemical manufacturing. Specific knowledge of the Carbopol® Manufacturing process and HS&E understanding relative to the site is desired.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
• Incumbent must have good analytical troubleshooting skills and be proficient with basic computer systems.
• Must have strong work ethic, professional attitude, safe work practices, reliability, organization and be detail oriented.
• Must demonstrate good people skills and have the ability to handle difficult situations and manage confidential information

 

General PPE: 

• FRC, hard hat, safety glasses, safety footwear, hearing protection and mouth-bit respirator, in addition to any additional PPE required for your area. Plant Manager must abide by facial hair policy and must be medically approved for ½ face and full-face respirator usage.
