EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Master's Degree from an accredited program in Speech Pathology. or
PhD from an accredited program in Speech Pathology.

No experience required with Master's or PhD
Licenses and Certifications
(SLPL) SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY Licensed to practice Speech Pathology in the state of Texas. Intern license (Clinical Fellowship Year) also accepted, Upon Hire and
(CPRAED) CPR AED Upon Hire and
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required, Upon Hire and
Active cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Upon HireCertificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) Upon Hire

JOB DUTIES
- Requires prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. Lifts supplies/equipment as needed.
- Has general patient care skills. Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic principles, practices good clinical judgement and does not compromise patients or another's safety, while at same time maximizes patient's treatment potential. Passes competency reviews.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to all policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, and corporate compliance. Includes: personal demeanor, appearance, and hygiene that are appropriate for the work environment. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with University Medical Center Policy. Tolerates variety within the work environment and consistently deals with all customers in a respectful manner.
- Completes speech therapy evaluations. Reviews information from all sources (history, physical, overt and subjective complaints, etc). Utilizes proper testing and measurement procedures based on information gathered in evaluation. Identifies and records problem areas on evaluation. Projects reasonable goals within realistic time frames for each identified problem. Analyzes and designs treatment plans based on patient problems and goals. Determines if planned treatment is effective and progresses patient in timely fashion. Records patient's progress in concise, accurate, and timely manner.
- Prepares for patient discharge in an organized and efficient manner, including timely and accurate submission of equipment needs. Displays good knowledge of patient's resources and needs.
