R&D Microbiology Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated Research & Development (R&D) intern to join the food microbiology team at Corbion in Lenexa, KS for the summer of 2025. The successful candidate should be passionate about conducting research in food microbiology and contribute to innovation and customer projects.

 

Responsibilities:

- Under general supervision, work on a project to be completed by the end of the summer

- Present research findings to the R&D team

- Assist the R&D Scientists in executing food microbiology projects to address the needs of our customers

- Report/discuss work status and other critical information with peers and R&D management

- Be flexible in taking on additional tasks as needed to support business goals

- Assist in maintaining a lab environemet that is clean, organized, and work-ready

- Cultivate a team atmosphere with peer groups and upper management

 

Qualifications:

- Progress towards a Bachelor's or Master's in Food Science, Food Microbiology, or Biology

- Technical training or previous experience is a plus

- Experience in working in a BSL-2 lab

- Working knowledge and experience in handling food-related microorganisms

- Must have strong oral and written communication skills
