About the role

The Aldinger Laboratory in the Norcliffe Foundation Center for Integrative Brain Research at Seattle Children’s Research Institute has an immediate opening in the fields of genetics, neurodevelopment, and disease. We use primary human tissues, stem cell models, genomic analyses, and advanced imaging techniques to understand how genetic and cellular changes impact neurodevelopment and initiate pediatric neurological diseases.

The ideal candidate will divide their time between lab management and research. Responsibilities include helping to oversee the day-to-day operational needs of the lab (overall lab organization; order/receive supplies; ensure personnel training) and making contributions to new and on-going laboratory projects, requiring the ability to use independent judgment to address tasks and projects, and identify and refine existing procedures and practices. Techniques used in the lab include human cell culture, molecular biology, histology, biochemistry, and cutting-edge genomics (spatial transcriptomics, long-read sequencing). Direct experience with more than one of these techniques is preferred.

  

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, or related field.
Minimum one (1) year of laboratory research experience.

Required Credentials

Preferred

- At least two (2) years of research experience in human iPSC culture, maintenance, and differentiation techniques.

- Experience with mouse husbandry

- Ability to use computational tools in common scripting languages (e.g. using Python, R or equivalent)

- Ability to work, collaborate, and communicate well within a multidisciplinary team.

- Must be self-motivated and able to take initiative and work independently.

- Strong organizational abilities.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

Compensation Range

$22.58 - $33.87 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
