About the Role:

The Senior Software Engineer will join a small, multi-disciplinary team investigating new methods and technologies for building, using, and managing data and information. The team will initially work on an independent incubator project within OpenDrives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research and Development for our product line.
• The creation, implementation, and support of features for our product line.
• Troubleshoot and solve bugs in the application
• Excellent communication with product, customer experience, and solutions departments.
• Promote growth and mentorship with all other Engineering team members
• Enable, equip, and enhance the capabilities of their team
• Demonstrate, document, and hand-off aspects of the project they are working on
• Find holes/gaps in our workflow/products and bring in new ideas, propose solutions, and take ownership over execution.
• Occasional travel 1-2x a year may be required for in person meetings with other team members

Expertise:

The following technological expertise is desired:

• Experience developing solutions in C, C++, or Rust
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash)
• Knowledge of file systems, especiallySMB and NFS
• Knowledge of object storage technologies desirable (e.g. S3, minio, ceph)
• Experience of modern technologies and tools in modern AL/ML development inclduing:
  • Vector databases
  • Image/Video Embedding generations
  • Connectors To/From other AI/ML inference services
• Experience developing distributed systems, including
  • RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar message queue technologies
  • Scylla, Redis, etcd or similar distribute database technologies
  • Highly Available Systems design and development (pcs, pacemaker, corosync)
  • Hierarchical Storage Management (e.g. robinhood)
  • P99 Latency Minimization
• Experience with Linux System debugging
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of relevant experience preferred
