Normal Working Hours/Days: Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends


SAMHSA’s Healthy Transitions Grant Description:


The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Healthy Transitions grant was awarded to improve and expand access to developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate services and supports for transition-aged youth and young adults (ages 16-25) who either have, or are at risk for developing, serious mental health conditions.


Position Summary:


Reporting to the Program Director, the Outreach Coordinator will lead our community engagement efforts in Prince George’s County, nurturing existing relationships and establishing new ones. This position will require the coordination of community events, workshops, and appearances to enhance the visibility of the Healthy Transitions program, requiring excellent communication and public speaking skills. This full-time, in-person role values a background in mental health and requires regular travel within the county, so reliable transportation is necessary.


Requirements: 


· Bachelor's Degree preferred

· At least (2) years of experience in community outreach

· Reside in Prince George’s County (preferred)

· Strong public written, speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills

· Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms

· Ability to effectively share information about services and resources

· Ability to maintain confidentiality

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently

· Ability to work in the evening and on weekends.

· Must be familiar with basic office equipment (e.g. computer, facsimile, copier, postage machines, etc.)

· Must be knowledgeable about data input and using Zoom and virtual platforms

· Knowledge of mental health conditions preferred


Position Responsibilities


· Ability to present information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences

· Proficiency in networking and engaging with audiences before and after presentations to build relationships and gather insights

· Develop and maintain a detailed digital calendar of outreach activities, ensuring alignment with grant goals and objectives

· Coordinate scheduling for community events, workshops, and appearances, considering logistics and resource requirements

· Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts

· Identify and explore new opportunities for collaboration and community involvement

· Work closely with the marketing and communications team to promote outreach activities through various channels, including social media

· Develop and distribute relevant materials to support outreach efforts and enhance visibility

· Collect feedback from participants to assess the success of outreach activities and identify areas for improvement

· Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of outreach strategies and recommend adjustments as needed


Mental, Physical, and Visual Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to drive is a requirement of the position.
