We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our Office of Finance and Information Technology at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a limited duration position scheduled to end June 30, 2027. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
This role is a hybrid of remote work and will need to report to the office when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Remote work is embraced to the fullest extent possible without interfering with business.

The SSF Modernization Business Systems Analyst position is located within the Information Technology Section of the Office of Finance and Information Technology (OFIT). OFIT provides support services to the agency as well as direct programs through distinct units. OFIT's units provide a wide range of services including accounting and financial services, budget development and execution services, facilities management, fiscal grants and services, mail services, procurement services, school finance and information technology.
What you will do!
The primary purpose of this position is to provide business systems analysis for the State School Fund System Modernization Initiative within the Oregon Department of Education.
Typical Duties Include:
Providing professional business analysis (BA) and systems analysis (SA) methodologies and expertise on assigned statewide multi-agency or enterprise-level projects with varying project lengths ranging from several months to multi-years.
Partnering with ODE leaders, staff, and business partners in all aspects of its work, and with other ODE business systems analysts to establish, implement, and follow best practices and standards, consistent with the Oregon State CIO Office established Stage Gate process. The primary focus of the position is the State School Fund system modernization initiative.

What you need to qualify
Six (6) years of information systems experience in business or systems analysis
OR
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience in business or systems analysis
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in business or systems analysis
OR
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above
Desired Attributes (what we are looking for):
Experience working as a professional business analyst
Experience working in a public sector role (Local, State, and/or Education)l
Experience using Microsoft T-SQL (at least two years)
Experience using and managing metadata for applications
Experience with application documentation and troubleshooting
Experience providing user support
