Salary range for this role is $50,000 - $56,000 per year depending on relevant education, experience, and licensure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy required.
  2. Licensure: Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT) through the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board OR Registered Art Therapist with Board Certification (ATR-BC).
  3. Skills/Competencies:
    1. Basic knowledge of child and adolescent development, human sexuality, family dysfunction, psychology, sociology, behavior theory and trauma.
    2. Pass Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Curriculum by passing the written exam, attending the full duration of training, participating and passing the required role plays, and demonstrating the full competencies up to and including the holds required.
    3. Openness to multi-disciplinary and eclectic approaches to treatment.
    4. Core Expertise: Possesses skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date.
    5. Cultural Competency: Demonstrates awareness, sensitivity and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal background and characteristics.
    6. Interpersonal Communication: Communicates clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of professional language.
    7. Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adheres to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; applies ethical concepts within scope of work and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
    8. Collaboration & Teamwork: Functions effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members.
    9. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Recognizes problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions.
  4. Experience: Experience with children, adolescents, and families. Demonstrated clinical experience in chemical dependency treatment.
AGENCY SUMMARY:
Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Art Therapist serves to facilitate skills and expressive/art therapy groups and provide care coordination for patients. Specifically, the Art Therapist develops curriculum, prepares and facilitates daily skills and expressive therapy groups using art, media, imagery, and the creative process to help patients address social, emotional, psychological, and physical challenges in the milieu. Additionally, the Art Therapist educates and supports staff in understanding and facilitating groups as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provide professional clinical services, including, but not limited to:
    1. Develop, implement and maintain skills group and expressive/art therapy group curriculum;
    2. Facilitate group services utilizing Art Therapy interventions;
    3. Perform psychosocial assessments and expressive therapy assessments;
    4. Conduct treatment planning including creating and editing individualized treatment plans in the electronic medical record;
    5. Provide care coordination, after care planning and case management services to assigned patients;
    6. Provide crisis intervention;
    7. Conduct family and individual therapy; and
    8. Cross train to facilitate the intake process, including concurrent review process.
  2. Collaborate with other treatment team members regarding treatment planning, progress, and ongoing needs in a time
