Where you fit in

Shell is seeking a Pacesetting Technical Advisor for a position in Houston, TX. This role involves working closely with the Trading & Supply Product Quality teams and manufacturing assets across the Americas. The advisor will use their technical expertise to assist T&S PQ, regional assets, and key third-party customers by ensuring quality in inspection and testing activities, standardizing test methods, and deploying technology.

Additionally, the role offers opportunities to contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance programs within Shell’s new energy business segments.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead global inspection company (GIC) quality assurance audits in Americas region

  • Advocate Shell interests within the international standardization bodies, such as ASTM in the relevant testing areas

  • Translate global standards and requirements related to product quality  management, specifically in the testing and measurement area, into opportunities and actions for our customers

  • Provide technical expertise in the areas of product release, routine lab QA/QC, compliance driven testing requirements, design and building laboratories, advising on equipment selection, special lab testing & measurements, optimizing analytical methods, optimizing lab workflow, provide training and implementing new technologies

  • Identify, develop, and execute value added activities for the customer, either through margin improvement, or potential PQ incident reduction or maintain license to operate

  • Maintain regular interaction with Shell counter parts to share best practices throughout the region and globally, supporting the implementation of a highly collaborative work environment that is very conducive to creating business impact while also expanding technical skills and business knowledge

  • Provide technical expertise for Shell new energy initiatives

  • Projects and Technology program management responsibility, including securing funding, execution and delivery of the projects that relate to the Pacesetting group's main activities

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably an advanced degree, in Chemistry is preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of overall quality experience in Oil & Gas industry is preferred

  • Must have a working knowledge of US EPA Streamline regulation requirements

  • Operational experience managing quality and release at a DS manufacturing site is preferred

  • Extensive experience with custody transfer inspection and analytical testing is preferred.

  • Experience with new energy initiatives considered a plus

  • Experience interfacing with standardization bodies such as ASTM, ISO, CEN, and/or EI is a plus

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 a plus

  • Must be willing to travel up to 30%, with regional and global travel possible

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.        

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles
