The Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD) department at Micron Technology is at the forefront of innovation, driving the advancement of memory and storage Interconnects and Packaging solutions that transform how the world uses information. Our team is dedicated to developing innovative processes and technologies that enable the creation of next-generation semiconductor products which drive the AI revolution. By collaborating closely with our global R&D, equipment and materials suppliers, and manufacturing teams, we ensure the efficient development, transfer and implementation of new technology nodes, maintaining Micron's leadership in the industry.

Position Overview:

The APTD Sr. Equipment Manager’s primary responsibility is to develop next generation equipment in conjunction with out worldwide APTD teams.  In addition, you will work with the tool owners in the installation and qualification of fab tools, and to provide sustaining as well as improvement efforts for equipment performance.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

Safety & Quality 

  • Ensure all work aligns with safety policies and promote a proactive safety environment.
  • Support EHS and PHA systems; identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct audits, submit safety observations, and resolve safety and quality issues.
  • Apply guidelines and network resources to maintain alignment with industry standards.

Communication & Collaboration  

  • Collaborate with local manufacturing and APTD teams on equipment development, area improvements, and goal execution.
  • Partner with suppliers to resolve tool issues and improve availability.
  • Strengthen communication across departments, networks, and external customers.
  • Lead meetings effectively and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
  • Support benchmarking and transfer activities through data collection and gap analysis.

Technical/Data Analysis

  • Analyze data to advise decisions and drive cost reduction.
  • Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis for sophisticated issues.
  • Act as a technical resource for TD support and promote TPM culture through metrics and documentation.

Project Management/Planning

  • Lead area equipment owners and supervise project execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Track actions, address issues, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Focus team efforts on priority issues and strategic improvements.
  • Coordinate meetings and support tool installations, modifications, and removals.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, APTD, PI, Planning, and Manufacturing on tool/chamber purchases (QPUP, QPODS).

Performance Management 

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and support professional development.
  • Ensure use of performance tools and maintain documentation for feedback and progress.
  • Supervise task completion and maintain open communication.
  • Define roles, support succession planning, and promote technical expertise.
  • Meet regularly with team members to review goals and development plans via SuccessFactors.

Fab Performance

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Planning to **optimize** output and minimize downtime.
  • Drive improvements in MA, excursion prevention, and overall fab performance.
  • Prioritize tactical and central initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Achieve optimal workstation balance by engaging in multi-functional collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum A.A.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology and 4 years of fab engineering experience; applicable Fab experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. 
  • Validated ability to lead technical teams and run performance to meet area and department goals
  • Skilled in mentoring and developing team members
  • Leads by example, embodying Micron values and leadership competencies
  • Collaboration, negotiation, and teamwork skills
  • Advanced understanding of fab process flows and area equipment
  • Proficient in MS Office, MICAP, Ariba, and MAXIMO
  • Effective at communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Validated leadership in coordinating multi-functional efforts
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
