Job Description

Since 1999, Eurofins Genomics Blue Heron(Blue Heron Biotech) has been a pioneer in the gene synthesis industry and has delivered tens of millions of base pairs of perfectly accurate genes to thousands of customers worldwide using its proprietary GeneMaker® multi-technology platform. We are 100% committed to serving our customers with high quality, strict confidentiality standards, and rapid delivery of synthesized genes. In March 2019 Blue Heron was acquired by Eurofins Scientific and became a partner of the Eurofins Genomics US division.

Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Collaborate with Midi/Maxi team and routinely perform midi, maxi, giga preps in a high throughput manner.
• Streak out and culture on ready-to-be-prepped targets.
• Record all actions in the status log, including the conditions and the concentrations of targets.
• Perform sequence clean up and load the sequence reaction plates onto the sequencer.
• Help with transformation if needed.
• Ready shipping tubes and package final DNA.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team, meet goals for accuracy, production deadlines and throughput utilizing the company’s proprietary gene-synthesis platform.
• Perform production protocols according to established company procedures. Maintain good communication, professional manner, and work ethic.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses outstanding organizational skills and ability to perform as an effective team member.
• Familiarities with aseptic technique.
• Experience utilizing and manipulating data via databases is preferred.
• Capable of using basic spreadsheet is required.
• Precise attention to details, record keeping, and adherence to protocols are required.
• The position is a shift and will require weekend work

Job Specifications:

• Education: Associate or Bachelor Degree
• Classification: Non-exempt (hourly)
• Typical Experience: 0 - 2 years
• Field of Expertise: Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry
• Supervision: Minimal direct supervision when trained
• Equipment Used: Centrifuge and supplies, incubator, DNA Sequencer,autoclave pipetting devices
• Software Used: Window OS, MS Office, Blue Heron Explorer (proprietary bioinformatics software, we train)
