Position Summary:

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Orthopaedic Surgery APP Fellowship Program is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the outpatient, inpatient and surgical settings. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, and various surrounding Froedtert clinic sites.  The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellow works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

  • The Orthopaedic Surgery APP fellowship is an innovative one-year training program that teaches APP fellows to become highly skilled in the multidisciplinary, collaborative, and evidence-based management of complex and challenging patients in inpatient, outpatient, and surgical settings.

  • The curriculum is composed of multi-modal learning opportunities that may include the following: in-person didactics, online classrooms, simulation, proctored procedures and/or mentored clinical rotations.

  • The APP fellow will have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe, quality care.

  • The Orthopaedic Surgery APP fellow will have a variety of experiences caring for patients, from pediatric patient populations to elderly patient populations.

  • The Orthopaedic Surgery APP fellow will work at Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, and various surrounding Froedtert clinic sites.

  • The Orthopaedic Surgery APP fellow reports to Stephanie Ludtke, PA-C.

Schedule:

  • 1.0 FTE (full time)

  • Salaried (exempt)

  • APP fellows receive compensation during the program.  APP fellow salary is $75,000 and paid out as per MCW standard. Taxes and deductions apply. 

  • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00-8:00 AM through 4:00-6:00 PM. Schedule will vary depending on rotation.

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:

  • Zero years of experience required.

  • The APP fellowship programs are open to new graduate or experienced APPs.

Minimum Education:

  • Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.

  • Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner                                                       

    • Wisconsin RN License 

    • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescrib
