About the role

As a Locksmith within the hotel and casino sector, your primary responsibilities will include the installation, upkeep, and repair of locking systems—both electronic and mechanical—within a high-security setting. This role demands a thorough understanding of security measures and the capacity to safeguard the safety and security of guests, staff, and property.

Core Responsibilities:

1.  Installation and Maintenance:

  •    Install, repair, and maintain locks, keys, and security systems.

  •    Program and troubleshoot electronic key card systems.

  •    Ensure all locking mechanisms are operational and efficient.

2. Security and Safety:

  •    Follow and enforce security protocols and procedures.

  •    Regularly inspect locks and security systems to meet safety standards.

  •    Address emergencies, such as lockouts or security breaches, quickly and effectively.

3. Key Management:

  •    Oversee key control systems, including key creation, duplication, and tracking.

  •    Keep detailed records of key issuance, returns, and replacements.

  •    Maintain the security and confidentiality of master keys.

4. Customer Service:

  •    Deliver exceptional customer service related to lock and key issues to both guests and staff.

  •    Help guests with lockouts and access-related problems with professionalism and courtesy.

  •    Work with other departments to resolve security concerns.

5. Technical Skills:

  •    Use specialized locksmith tools and equipment for various tasks.

  •    Keep up to date with advancements in lock technology and security systems.

  •    Provide training and supervision to junior locksmiths or security staff as necessary.

6. Regulatory Compliance:

  •    Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  •    Maintain accurate records of locksmith activities and security measures.

  •    Participate in security audits and assessments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a recognized locksmith training program is preferred.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Extensive locksmith experience, especially in high-security environments.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic locking systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility to work various hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Background in physical security and experience in the hospitality industry are highly desirable.

Physical Demands, Environmental and Other Requirements:

  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Comfort in various environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings.

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • This role is crucial for maintaining the security and integrity of the hotel and casino environment, ensuring a safe and secure experience for all guests and staff.

  • Requires interaction with management, applicants, colleagues, and guests while maintaining professional relationships.

  • Effective verbal communication with guests and coworkers is necessary.

  • Involves prolonged periods of sitting or standing, bending, reaching, transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 80 lbs., and lifting items up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires eye/hand coordination and use of standard office equipment.

  • Must have mathematical and analytical skills and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Compliance with policies, procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS), and other instructions is required.
