The Team:
Allied Health Strategy and Policy is a small, high performing team in the Department of Health, Tasmania. We provide high-level policy advice and lead strategic allied health workforce projects and initiatives aligned to the Department of Health Strategic Priorities.
The Role:
The Policy and Executive Support Officer is an integral member of the Allied Health Strategy and Policy team. The Policy and Executive Support Officer
- Works under direction within the Allied Health Strategy and Policy team and will play a key role in coordinating the timely preparation and provision of high-quality briefings and reports for the Secretary and Ministers regarding allied health professional policy, workforce, legislative, regulatory, and clinical governance issues.
- Provide project support to the Allied Health Strategy and Policy team through the administration and coordination of several concurrent project activities associated with planning, monitoring, research, collation of information and preparation of reports.
- Provide executive support to the Chief Allied Health Officer and Deputy Chief Allied Health Advisor and general administrative support to the Allied Health Strategy and Policy team including secretariat support for committees.
You will need to have:
- Experience providing policy and executive support in a demanding environment and demonstrate effective output management and coordination skills
- Knowledge and understanding of project management principles
- Sound written and oral communication skills
- Capacity to provide secretarial and administrative support
- Critical thinking, research and analytical skills
- Experience using various IT systems and software and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
