Summary

Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for purchasing, receiving and issuing of shop supplies and tools, parts and related equipment; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Examples of duties

SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation.

1. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for purchasing, receiving and issuing automotive shop tools, parts and related equipment.
2. Establish schedules and methods for providing parts services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
3. Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
4. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
5. Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including salvaging all trade-in vehicles or equipment.
6. Maintain accurate and complete records of all parts purchasing, inventory and issuing activities.
7. Participate in the selection of parts staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
8. Participate in the preparation and administration of the assigned budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
9. Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
10. Maintain fuel ordering/deliveries and three separate fuel stations.
11. Maintain accurate record keeping for fuel station inspections daily, monthly and annually.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Conduct special studies of operational methods and requirements regarding parts purchasing and issuance.
2. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or a two (2) year technical certificate in automotive repair or business; and 

Four (4) years of automotive repair or parts issuing experience; and

To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico's Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. 
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Shop or warehouse environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases.

Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for heavy, moderate or light lifting; walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
