Job Purpose and Impact

The Merchant will trade the Cash Soya Meal import book in Spain and Portugal to expand our current footprint in Iberia. You and your team will distribute Soymeal from South and North America origin in the main Import Ports in Spain and Portugal. You will work closely with the Origins, the Cargill trading office in Geneva, the European Soy Merchandising Manager and the Soy lead for Iberia and France to build long term profitable relationship with the local feed industry players in Iberia.  

Key Accountabilities

• Strong Collaboration with Supply Chain, quality assurance, key account managers and credit collection team to ensure efficient execution.

• Originate, procure, and sell commodities and livestock to regional customers to reach target volumes and gain revenue.

• Generate market, position and profit and loss reports based on data and specialty reports gathered by the junior team members.

• Research and analyze different cash and trading opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.

• Work directly with customers, suppliers, and business counterparts to develop business solutions to meet their needs.

• Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• Minimum of four years of related work experience

• Spanish and English speaking

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Portuguese and French is a plus

• Results driven
