National Grid is hiring a Manager, Stakeholder Engagement for our department in MA.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a seasoned professional who is passionate about public engagement and excited about the future of energy to co-lead and develop a “best in class” Stakeholder Management team. This Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of specialists who are accountable for developing and executing the public engagement strategy for National Grid's complex capital energy infrastructure projects. In this role, the manager will be charged with not only developing the skills, talent, and capability of the team, but also working with public engagement consultants to ensure proper staffing for a $2 Billion portfolio of projects in New England. This Manager will also serve as an integral part of cross-functional teams across the company focused on effectively and efficiently building the infrastructure of the future.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and mentor a team of highly-skilled practitioners in the public engagement field
- Engage external consultants who can support the team
- Oversee the execution of the team’s public outreach activities
- Manage team workload and performance
- Identify training opportunities and tools that enhances the team’s abilities
- Ensure compliance with all public participation laws, regulations, and protocols
- Build and maintain long-term, positive, professional relationships with internal stakeholders
- Undertake special projects, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in public affairs or public engagement with a preference for a background in stakeholder management, constituent services, government affairs, public relations, external affairs, marketing, political campaigning or strategic communications
- Evidence of strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to draft and execute presentations and lead meetings; experience communicating publicly in potentially contentious forums preferred
- Experience leading teams and building a high-performance culture
- Evidence of an unrelenting drive for excellence
- Strong negotiation skills and experience with vendor management preferred
- Proven ability to independently identify problems, craft solutions, and effectively resolve them in a timely manner
- Proficiency in relevant software, including Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI)
- Valid driver's license required
- Travel required, including off-hours regional travel

Salary - $133,000 - $157,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
