Description
The University of Notre Dame’s Department of History invites applications for the Director of Undergraduate Studies, a non-tenure track teaching position with administrative responsibilities. This colleague will advise the department’s large number of undergraduate majors and minors, oversee the administration of the department’s undergraduate programming and curriculum, and teach a mix of undergraduate courses. Specialists in all subfields of History are encouraged to apply.
The appointment can be at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, or Associate Teaching Professor for candidates with appropriate administrative experience and a record of publication. The position offers the stability of potential reappointment and promotion to Associate Teaching Professor and Full Teaching Professor on the basis of excellence in advising, teaching, and publication.
A candidate must hold the PhD.
Application Instructions
Applications are due by August 15, 2025, with interviews of a short list of candidates to be early in September 2025. The successful candidate is expected to assume the position on January 1, 2026.
All applications should include a letter of interest, a CV, a teaching statement, teaching evaluations, proposed syllabi for both a lecture course and a small undergraduate seminar, and three letters of recommendation.
