JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Summary/Objectiveà
- To provide support required for Snyder products in the field. This may be new installations, start-up on new installations, PM service work, or emergency troubleshooting & repairs. Systems required to support: Diesel, lube oil, and water systems, along with various electrical products. Ability to understand system logic and diagnose issues. Regular interface between technicians, Engineering, Operations, and Sales. Must possess in-depth knowledge of Snyder products. Regular report writing will be required.
- Additional Essential Functions à
- Support Snyder field service activites
- Commission Snyder products
- Provide onsite training for personnel using Snyder products
- Troubleshoot system problems: Including diesel pumping systems, heated hose reel cabinets, electric derail system, wayside power supply cranes, etc.
- Interface with onsite railroad personnel and 3rd party contractors
- Complete onsite paperwork for PM service & equipment testing
- Write reports detailing work completed at jobsite
- Suggest process/design improvements to facilitate ease of repair
- Handle technical support calls from customers, troubleshooting products remotely
- Competencies: Technical à
- Full understanding of all systems within Snyder product line
- In-depth troubleshooting skills
- Technical capacity (Understanding complex mechanical & electrical systems)
- Must be able to use electrical/electronic measurement equipment (DMM, optical pyrometer, etc.) in the field with a basic technical knowledge
- Competencies: Core à
- Be familiar with typical railroad rules/regulations, technical specifications, and standard industry workmanship requirements
- Ability to get an eRailSafe badge. Other customer-specific training may be necessary.
- Familiar with standard operations around a diesel shop and locomotive service track.
- Must do “hands-on” and remote troubleshooting, when requested.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics generated by Snyder at an expert level
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate within the company.
- Capable of travel 50-75% every month when required
