Job Summary
SummaryPerforms a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone.

Essential Functions
-Accurately enters information from requisition (including patient name, unit number, requesting area, time sample drawn, physician’s name, tubes received, tests requested, general comments) into computer.
-Transfers samples from racks to the centrifuges and to decant station.
-Processes ADDs: locates sample, adds tests to original accession, completes ADDs form.
-Acts as resource to CLA I and CLA II staff.
-Handles special specimens (e.g. Sendouts).
Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Minimum two years of experience as a CLA I or II 2-3 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital. - Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands. - Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
