About the role
The Data Center Technician (DCT) plays a key role in Computacenter’s Integration Center, guiding the flow of physical technology products through the warehouse and the integration center, where products are crafted, racked, stacked, configured, and tested to meet specific customer needs. DCTs work with little or minimal direction, handling products and updating associated information systems, programming and configuration of automation programs as required by customers. Data Center Technicians will travel to customer sites for rack installations and work closely with the field teams for service and repairs. We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled RMA Technician to manage the return and repair process of customer merchandise. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate processing of returned items, diagnosing issues, and coordinating with internal team members to maintain high customer satisfaction. Have some computer background and able to test and problem solve equipment. Must be willing to follow directions and understand urgent timelines and be willing to work overtime when needed. You will be required to be able to lift 50 lbs. Will need to feel comfortable answering emails and be very detailed oriented in the responses.
What you'll be doing
- Racking: read Rack Elevation; rack and stack servers, network hardware, and accessories.
- Cable Matrix: read and interpret cable matrix to correctly lace cables port to port.
- Labeling: operate cable labeling machine and apply label onto cables per customer standards.
- Asset Tracking: keep track of all assets assigned to DCT until completion of rack build.
- Hardware Upgrade: install components to server and networking devices such as, memory, CPU, expansion cards, and modules.
- Benching: place specified items on a designated, numbered bench for configuration and testing; includes un-boxing, labeling, powering-up, and recording serial numbers.
- Un-benching: re-package (match product serial numbers) and retrieve the designated items from the designated bench in the Integration Center, record the change in location and status of the items in the inventory system, and place them
in a designated staging area in the warehouse to prepare for shipping. - Boxing: craft the designated items for a given project into larger boxes or pallets, stretch-wrapping them, and verifying that all of the designated items are included in the set.
- Asset Management and Data Collection: capture critical device information such as asset tag, serial numbers, mac addresses, and other information deemed significant for client and company use.
- Make recommendations to improve customer designs to power and equipment load when necessary.
- Installation: install rack at various customer sites
- Repairs and Service: provide support to the field team with service and repairs for installed racks at various customer sites.

What you have
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A+ certification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with rack fabrication.
- BIOS and Active Director experience.
- IDRAC and DURBL experience.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the usual and customary methods of performing the job functions, including: a variety of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; repeated twisting at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves; regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; usage of pallet jacks; carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing, including ladders, and balancing; and significant fine finger dexterity.
