Project Manager, Strategic Payer Initiatives

We’re on a mission to improve health and improve lives at Labcorp! The Strategic Payer Initiatives team is looking for a new dynamic and organized Project Manager to carry out our company’s mission. This position will oversee healthcare projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards while adhering to healthcare regulations. This role will be responsible for executing the strategic payer initiatives and gaps in care roadmap and ensuring integration with IT and other departmental roadmaps and driving projections from initiation to completion.
This role requires collaboration, engagement and consensus building among cross-functional teams, along with gathering market insights to deliver measurable outcomes, patient and client satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Gaps in Care (GIC) Solutions serves Labcorp’s mission by developing innovative and convenient products tailored to improve quality outcomes and meet the everyday needs of all populations.
Core Duties include:
Lead healthcare project planning, execution and closing. Deliver comprehensive project plans, including development of scope, timelines, budgets and performance metrics to effectively oversee projects from initiation to completion. Execute the strategic roadmap, aligning deliverables with organizational and department priorities, and partner with teams to facilitate alignment between clinical needs and IT systems to ensure projects are incorporated into enterprise-wide roadmaps and technology platforms. Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Lead project teams and ensure appropriate resource assignment. Develop business requirements, review project guidelines, and define team member roles. Identify and effectively escalate potential risks, delays, barriers or blockers in a timely manner and develop mitigation strategies. Maintain detailed project documentation, maintain issues log and provide regular reports to stakeholders. Facilitate discussions, mediate disagreements, and build consensus to drive decision-making among diverse stakeholders such as Sales, Client Success, Payor Solutions, Laboratory Operations, IT, Finance, Sourcing & Procurement, Science & Technology, Revenue Cycle Management, Employer Solutions, Marketing, and other Labcorp channels. Ensure projects meet quality standards and adhere to healthcare compliance regulations like HIPAA, CMS guidelines, TCPA, and FDA guidelines. Actively monitor healthcare trends and competitive offerings, utilizing this information to influence the roadmap, as well as overall program strategy.
Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated success in managing healthcare projects.
- Agility in navigating and learning new commercial channel processes and how they impact the GIC product line.
- Solid understanding of healthcare regulations and quality programs, including CMS, HIPAA, NCQA, HEDIS, and FDA guidelines.
- Advanced skills in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel & Visio.
- Proven ability to manage multiple project health care projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated success in building consensus and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Healthcare experience in working with health plans, physician practices, payers, health systems and/or employer groups.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5-8 years of applicable work experience, at least 3 years leading projects in the healthcare industry.
- Experience leading projects in the health plan industry to support quality performance improvement is strongly preferred.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and driving projects forward.
- Excellent English written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Travel as needed, up to 20% of the time.
Preferred Experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
- Clinical Quality/HEDIS/Medicare Star Ratings experience
- Agile and Kanban Experience preferred
