We're excited to continue solidifying that foundation as we are looking for a Claims & Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Provide legal and administrative support as a true paraprofessional.  Paralegals evaluate facts and evidence, undertake research and collate relevant materials for the legal matters assigned to them.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices and procedure.  The position periodically includes supporting other teammates as needed.

General Responsibilities:

  • Document, investigate, research and analyze any possible risks/exposure to the company received by the company, its subsidiaries or any regulatory entities. 

  • Organize and maintain records in the departments electric filing system.

  • Draft summaries to counsel providing information such as the nature of the inquiry, causes of action alleged and preliminary recommendations.

  • Work with Brown & Brown subsidiaries to conduct fact-finding and retrieve relevant information and records. 

  • Create and maintain a legal knowledge management system to include work product materials.

  • Filing communications, pleadings and update the status of pending litigation matters as needed.

  • Directly interact with retained outside counsel to effectively resolve open pending actions, matters or required documentation as quickly as possible.  

  • Work closely with retained outside counsel and litigation support staff to coordinate corporate depositions scheduling and appearance as needed.

  • Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position.

  • Attend team meetings, conferences and training as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Paralegal certificate from an accredited college or a Bachelors’ degree in paralegal studies or business is preferred. 

  • At least 5 + years of professional experience as a paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department. 

  • Insurance defense and/or personal injury experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy to ensure that all aspects of a matter is thoroughly reviewed and documented to include conference calls. 

  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, independently, as well as collaboratively, and operating under tight deadlines with a broad range of responsibilities. 

  • Self-starter with ability to manage and prioritize a myriad of competing matters. 

  • Creative and practical problem-solver. 

  • Exceptional communications, organization, listening and writing skills.
