Job Description

At NielsenIQ, growth isn’t just measured in numbers — it’s defined by the partnerships we build and the markets we unlock. As Managing Director, North America – Business Development, you will lead the strategy and execution of new business growth for NIQ’s largest region. You’ll shape the path to winning the industry’s most competitive opportunities, defining how NIQ engages, responds, and converts large-scale client pursuits across North America.

This role is both visionary and hands-on: you will architect the regional business development strategy while personally leading high-impact pursuits — including complex RFPs with North America–headquartered global clients. Working in close collaboration with NIQ’s global BD organization, vertical commercial leaders, and product and analytics experts, you will ensure NIQ’s unique value proposition is consistently delivered through precision, storytelling, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and Lead the Business Development Strategy:
Develop and execute the North America BD strategy to drive revenue growth, client acquisition, and win-back opportunities across priority sectors and markets.
  • Orchestrate Major Client Pursuits:
Serve as the executive lead for NIQ’s largest and most strategic RFPs, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver compelling, differentiated, and commercially sound proposals.
  • Build and Scale a High-Performing BD Organization:
Recruit, develop, and inspire a best-in-class business development team that reflects NIQ’s growth ambitions and performance standards. Establish clear operating rhythms, pursuit discipline, and talent development practices.
  • Collaborate Across Global and Vertical Teams:
Partner closely with vertical and functional leaders to align on go-to-market priorities, pipeline visibility, and pursuit governance. Act as the connective tissue between regional execution and global enterprise growth strategies.
  • Drive Market Intelligence and Commercial Excellence:
Leverage insights into the competitive landscape, client needs, and market trends to refine NIQ’s BD strategy. Champion consistent use of CRM, forecasting, and analytics to manage performance and accountability.
  • Represent NIQ’s Brand and Leadership in the Market:
Engage with C-suite stakeholders across client and partner organizations. Serve as a visible ambassador of NIQ’s innovation, credibility, and leadership in data, analytics, and insights.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in business development, enterprise sales, or strategic partnerships within data, analytics, technology, or consulting sectors.
  • Proven record of leading and winning complex, multi-stakeholder RFPs for large enterprise clients.
  • Strong executive presence and storytelling ability, capable of translating analytics and insights into strategic, commercial narratives.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams across matrixed, global organizations.
  • Deep understanding of how data and technology fuel decision-making across FMCG, retail, and adjacent industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Leadership Competencies

  • Achievement Motivation: Sets and pursues ambitious goals; inspires teams to exceed expectations.
  • Initiating Action: Proactively identifies opportunities and drives them forward with urgency and ownership.
  • Strategic Thinking: Sees the big picture; aligns pursuits with long-term market and organizational priorities.
