Summary

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Registered Nurse, RN Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills are required. Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills. Knowledge of the age-specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients typically served. Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs. Visual acuity for observation of patients. Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting. The position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.

2 South is a 37-bed Medical-surgical/Telemetry unit with step-down patients: all private rooms.

Our patients include Adult and Geriatric patients with the following diagnosis or treatments:

• Acute Respiratory Disorders
• Acute Cardiac Disorders
• Cardiac Dysrhythmia Requiring Drug Therapy/Adjustment
• Pre and Post Surgery Requiring Telemetry Monitoring
• Acute and Chronic Renal Disease
• Neurology Disorders
• Endocrinology Disorders
• Psychosocial Disorders
• Gastrointestinal Disorders
