About the role

Job Summary:

 

        The Lead Warehouse Person provides support and assistance to the Distribution Center Manager in directing the day-to-day activities of the warehouse and assists in monitoring warehouse productivity, oversees the productivity of other warehouse personnel, is accountable for maintaining a safe and clean yard, ensures that Company policies and procedures are followed, and communicates regularly with the Distribution Center Manager concerning efficiency and personnel issues. In addition, the Lead Warehouse Person performs a variety of warehouse duties with primary focus on the following: moving, storing, loading, and unloading stock, assembling customer orders, packing and/or palletizing stock, and maintaining a safe and clean work area.

 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Accurately pulls stock for customers’ orders from assigned areas using a forklift or picker
  2. Assembles customers’ orders and places in designated area
  3. Stacks, palletizes, and properly packs or wraps stock for safe and secure shipment
  4. Loads, unloads, and moves product onto or off of trucks and other vehicles manually or using a forklift
  5. Unpacks, sorts, moves and stores stock in the warehouse or yard according to designated locations using a forklift or other material handling devices
  6. Verifies incoming freight item count with packing list and checks for damaged goods
  7. Restocks merchandise and maintains current physical inventory check on products within assigned area
  8. Prepares vehicles for loading
  9. Docks empty vehicles and removes all merchandise and packing material from inside vehicles and loading area
  10. Compares identifying information and verifies amount of product to be shipped or received against  proper paperwork
  11. Cleans and maintains the yard area free from dirt and clutter to prevent accidents and allow for safe forklift movement
  12. Occasionally performs vehicle checks for safety purposes
  13. Oversees and directs warehouse personnel in the completion of job duties, including loading and unloading products, assembling orders, stocking bin locations, and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse and yard
  14. Checks accuracy of other employees’ work
  15. Follows established Company safety guidelines to ensure own safety and safety of others
  16. Maintains forklifts and other equipment
  17. Trains others to follow Company policies and procedures and ensures policies and procedures are followed
  18. Communicates regularly with supervisor regarding productivity, operational issues, safety concerns and employees’ performance
  19. Conducts meetings with warehouse personnel as needed
  20. Expected to work overtime during peak business periods
  21. Acts as the supervisor in the event of the Manager’s absence
  22. Performs other duties as requested
