About the role


Summary
 

Responsible for instructional design, strategies, assessment, and innovative learning techniques. Performs in-depth analysis, design, development and delivery of learning programs that enhance the workforce effectiveness through use of competency gap analysis, blended learning, performance consulting, and evaluation of data and results. Includes, collaborating with customer groups to determine training needs, identify learning and performance gaps.

Location: Columbia, SC

What You'll Do:

  • Leads projects related to learning training program design, development, and implementation to serve both internal and external clients/customers. Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives. Evaluate instructional objectives and course content and match with appropriate instructional delivery options that maximize mastery of subject matter and/or skill development.

  • Design training to support departments including developing, planning, and maintaining course materials including instructor manuals, participant guides, e-learning, train the trainer materials, job aids, evaluations, and tests utilizing best practices, policies, standards, and procedures. Creates content and implements design principles to educational materials for traditional learning and blended solutions. Create competency models and career paths to support organizational needs.

  • Facilitate training programs to help improve job skills and support departmental initiatives. Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, e-learning, group discussions, videos, and or lectures. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and instructors.

  • Teach training skills to other instructors and to management. Serve as subject matter expert to departments and other staff relating to training development.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's in a job related field


Degree Equivalency:

  • 4 years job related work experience or Associate's and 2 years job related work experience


Required Work Experience:

  • 8 years in design, development, implementation and evaluation of adult learning and development programs preferably in an insurance or service environment.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, conceptual, and planning skills. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously both independently and with groups. Strong knowledge of needs assessment techniques. General knowledge of methods for reporting statistics. Ability to work continually and effectively under stringent pressure including constant and numerous deadlines and company and contract ambiguities. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media.


Required Software and Other Tools:

  • A thorough knowledge, Microsoft© Office Suite, and learning management systems.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • 3 years supervisory experience; advanced facilitation skills

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment. Some travel may be required.
